sys.columns/system_type_id

in the sys.columns view there is a col called system_type_id. It is numeric. Is this a representation of the data type of the column? If so, where does one find the mapping from the number to the data type? (i.e. 56=tinyint)

    • Yep...look in sys.types. That is the lookup table for what you need.
